Had to try it....

One of the great ladies on the MTC forum reminded me of a blog I had bookmarked and lost. It was wonderful to find it again. On http://www.fam-bjork.se/monicas-hobbysida/en_craft_robo.html there are some amazing cutting files. She has great talent and I highly suggest you go take a look. I took one of her lattice patterns and welded it into the front of a scalloped card and cut it out on my gazelle. There is the odd small tear but otherwise came out amazing. Is very fine cuts so I am really impressed with how my gazelle cut. I am very confident that with a really sticky mat and new sharp blade I would have no problems cutting it :) She designed it for her Craft robo.

Mayhem and Destruction

I was brutal and it hurt. I must admit it was hard. I made a resolution of sorts to try my best to grab paper from the scrap BOXES. Rather than start a new piece of paper. I am getting better at using 4 or 5 different papers on my mat at one time. Soooo this was my day:
9am- Started to look for paper for a piecing I wanted to do. Pulled out scrap Boxes , dug thru and found my paper
9:45- Started to collect paper  for may second mat. Started to dig , Looked at my mess , realized these Boxes contain 4 years of paper crafting and learning, maybe it would be time to go thru them It won't take me long..... ( famous last words ). I took the first few inches of the box and plopped it into my chair to start sorting. I decided I was making a box for the local elementary school. Away I went in my sorting glee!

9:50 I look over at the Boxes and at my chair and decide this was not going to work, so I dumped The BOXES:
10:00 am  cutting everything with scissors and trying really hard to sort but the paper is soooooooo pretty. I really dont want to throw it out no matter how small. Okay DEEP breath and repeat after me I CAN DO THIS < I CAN DO THIS < I CAN DO THIS !
10:45- Left Brain walks in and says Why are you cutting those buy hand do you not have a gillotine cutter?
11:00- Cutter is dusted off and Now I am Rockin!
12:15- The small 2 inch stack I originally put in my chair is done an I have not even started on the pile.
12:45- First coffee in hours, First trip to burning barrel. First thoughts  of " WHAT THE HECK HAVE I DONE? " What was I thinking? I wasn't thinking that was the problem.
2:00- Second trip to burning barrel , arm is getting sore from the cutter action. Hmmmmm
3:30- Third trip to burning barrel and the floor is swept and I am done! I did not get my piecing done that I wanted to but I did mange to get my scrap paper boxes down to the one cardboard box for the school and the crate I use is half full of squared off paper of various sizes. I will never let it get that bad ever again " again famous last words" Have fun all I am going to go look for A535 or something like it! ( ben gay?) Oh here is the last pic .....

Oh yee poor Blog...............

Well here it is a new year! YIPPEE! I made a pac with myself to try yet again to keep my blog updated. No matter if I just say Hi or I share some work with you. I have been busy cutting with my new Gazelle , I think we may understand each other now :) I had a very quiet holiday, kids spread out to much :(  I have been busy online with a couple of sites. Make the Cut being number 1 of course. I love their forum. Everyone is very helpful. Me .... NOT in the technical end of this. Meaning cricut versions/ firmware/etc. The hook your machine up stuff. So after giving out the wrong information to someone, I now try and find someone who can help or I refer back to an old thread. There has also been alot of talk about copyright ...... MY VIEW.... Let me say right now , If I seem to have an image, or file or such , on my blog that is not given proper credit or has been used in the wrong way ... It was not done on purpose. I love the files I create , weather I trace an image , or I use a square and a triangle and such and build a file. I am creating which is why I bought Make the Cut in the first Place. It seems people are very easily offended which I mistakenly found out the Hard way.. Oh well. Live , Learn and Enjoy what you do!
Below are some cards which include , Treasure Box files, Lettering Delights files, and My very own " built" files. Please enjoy!

ty for craft glue

Hi all. Well my glasses are still not here, arg UPS says next week, soooooooooooooo I got inventive with aleene's tacky glue. As long as I put 5 or 6 coats of glue on the break , I get 5 or so hours of wearing my glasses. Yippee. The first thing I did was start my cricut and told her how much I loved her and how much I missed her. Then I proceeded to cut out 100 snowflakes. Yp I said 100. The thought being .... last year i bought these small metal snowflakes from wal mart ( nice but expensive) so this year I tried cutting them. It worked great except I would suggest having something else to do in the time being. I think it took my cricut 1 and a half hours to cut them. They are great and I would cut them again.
I thought I would share my mat cleaning tactics ...

1. Wipe your mat with baby wipes after a few cuts , it helps with the little bits of paper
2. When I want to do a complete clean ( about once a month or so) I was my mat with GO-JO , the stuff    used in car places for getting grease and stuff off your hands. Put a tablespoon or 2 on your mat and rub it with your finger tips. Rinse well let dry, they are like new( very sticky). My favorite trick!
3. When I do find I need more stick on my mat, I use Krylon  Easy-tack repositionable adhesive.
4. Always keep mat covered when not in use .. the dust will play a part in cuts if it builds up.
5. this hint is not about the mat but It helps my cuts ...... I soak my blades in a little bit of methyl hydrate at night, you would be surprised the gunk that comes off. I use methyl hydrate because that is what left brain had in his shop, but I am sure other things would work.

Have a great day all and always enjoy what you do! I hope this helps.

Hobbit

Hi everyone in blog land. My glasses are still not here so no craftroom yet. I am getting tired of wearing sunglasses all the time and it is an older Rx sooooo. Enough complaining. Guess what? I won my first blog candy. http://kandrewdesigns.blogspot.com  I won a bottle of sulyn swirl glitter glue. Very cool and thank you. As I have no glasses to craft with I have been baking up a storm for when my boys and maybe company arrive in a week. So far in the freezer I have Pumpkin cranrasin loaf,  Pumpkin muffins, peanutbutter squares, shortbread squares, banana bread, cherry pie, carrot loaf, 2 batches of buns, and I am sure there is something I forgot to list. I so have the craft itch I cant wait for my new glasses to get here. I look forward to blogging more when I can see better. Big hugs and always enjoy what you do!
